South Korea knows how to play the Philippines. Korea defeated Japan, 81-68, to get into the quarterfinals.

The Filipinos' last win came on their home floor during the 2013 FIBA Asia Championships.

Gilas found no answer to South Korea, which showed up with the same arsenal that has been the staple of its game-torrid outside shooting, effective passing and a speed that kills.

GILAS Pilipinas has taken the Fiba Asia Cup by storm in Beirut and one man who helped put away all pre-tournament talk on how mighty China is has been heaping praises from global media there.

Gilas was left perplexed with the way the South Koreans executed their offense like a brand new machine and absorbed a 118-86 loss in the quarterfinals held at the Nouhad Nawfal Sports Complex in Beirut, Lebanon.

A pair of back-to-back turnovers for Gilas to start out the fourth quarter set the tone for the remainder of the game, as the Koreans secured a comfortable victory.

The Koreans had their guns ablaze right from the beginning as they pounced on the hapless Gilas Pilipinas defense with their torrid three-point shooting.

The first quarter also saw the debut of Jun Mar Fajardo in the FIBA Asia Cup 2017 but the big man looks out of rhythm as he struggled to with the quickness of the Koreans.

Korea's had more balanced scoring with three of its players finishing in double digits, with Sunhyung Kim leading with 21 points, and three more players coming up with identical 9 points each. For what it's worth, it looked like that the Philippines had their share of bad luck, with balls not going their way and consistently finding their way to the South Korean hands.

Gilas Pilipinas managed to cut the deficit to just eight points, 57-49, but Korea pulled away with a dominant 29-13 third quarter to take the fight out of the Filipinos.

Terrence Romeo paced the Filipinos with 22 markers.

Philippines' rivalry with Korea is one of the more storied bouts in Asian basketball.
