Trump takes to Twitter, declares Russian Federation investigation a 'witch hunt'

Donald Trump labels Russian interference investigation 'witch hunt' in tweets defending performance Trump Tweets His Frustration With Russia Investigation

President Donald Trump is beginning his day with a stream of tweets defending his record and lashing out at the investigation into Russian interference in the election. He said a Friday tweet from Trump was specifically directed at a story in The Washington Post about the expanding probe into Russia's election meddling. He also cited the testimony from former FBI Director James Comey before the Senate intelligence committee, in which Comey said he had told Trump he was not under investigation in the months leading up to his May 9 firing.

The daily was one of several media outlets that reported that Trump himself was being investigated on allegations of obstructing justice.

"I am being investigated for firing the FBI Director by the man who told me to fire the FBI Director!"

The US president has denied trying to influence the investigation, but acknowledged in an interview that Russian Federation was on his mind when he dismissed Comey.

They then ran off on foot but were stopped at a home on Pruitt Road in Christiana, where they gave themselves up to police. When officers approached, Rowe and Dubose surrendered and were taken into custody without injuries, Goodwin said.

The Senate Intelligence Committee is investigating how Russians attempted to interfere with the 2016 US election a year ago, and how they could try again in future elections, as well as whether or not there could have been any link to associates of the Trump campaign. Rubio says it's important for the American people to know how the Russians interfered because we have more elections coming up.

Some of his ire is aimed at Rod Rosenstein, the United States deputy attorney general and investigative special counsel Robert Mueller, both of whom the president believes are biased against him, associates say.

While aides have advised Trump to stay off Twitter, the president continued to weigh in Sunday as he spent the weekend at Camp David, the government-owned presidential retreat in Maryland.
