The complex issues of the Russian Federation probe, special counsel

Irune Rengel | 18 Junio, 2017, 04:52

Mr Trump did not identify who "the man" was but appeared to be questioning the integrity of Deputy Attorney-General Rod Rosenstein - the Justice Department's number two official who appointed Mr Mueller on May 17 and wrote a memo to Mr Trump that was critical of Mr Comey's performance after the former director was sacked.

Both Trump's subtle threats and Rosenstein's involvement in Comey's firing might lead the deputy AG to recuse himself from the Russian Federation investigation.

"I am being investigated for firing the FBI Director by the man who told me to fire the FBI Director", President Trump tweeted.

The Federal Bureau of investigation will not release copies of memos drafted by former director James Comey recounting his interactions with President Donald Trump, the bureau said on Friday.

"If the president thinks he can fire Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein and replace him with someone who will shut down the investigation, he's in for a rude awakening", Dianne Feinstein of California, the top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, said Friday in a statement.

'Cuban/American Friends Are Very Happy' With New Cuba Policy
MI bean growers have been hoping the Obama administration's move to normalize relations with Cuba would open a new market. The new policy aims to starve military-linked businesses of cash by banning any US payments to them.

At a ceremony last month to welcome Associate Attorney General Rachel Brand, the Justice Department's third-ranking official, Rosenstein joked awkwardly about being at the center of criticism since taking office, according to people who were in the room. If Trump is found guilty of obstruction of justice, that would likely be grounds for impeachment. The official demanded anonymity because the official was not authorized to be named discussing the deliberations.

Rosenstein has defended Mueller and said he wouldn't fire him without good cause.

Yet Trump's angry tweets on Friday underscored the near-impossible challenge his advisers and legal team have in trying to get him to avoid weighing in on an active probe.

While the Republican Trump administration initially said Rosenstein's letter was the reason the president fired Comey on May 9, Trump later said he did so because of the "Russia thing".

The memo sent Thursday asks for records related to foreign travel, contacts with Russian "officials, agents or nationals" and background investigations into the top Trump associates now targeted by Mueller's probe. But Rosenstein, too, may ultimately have to hand off oversight of the probe given his own role in Comey's firing.

The stock of Liontrust Asset Management PLC (LON: LIO ) earned "Neutral" rating by Macquarie Research on Wednesday, November 16. Wellington Management Limited Liability Partnership owns 0% invested in 3D Systems Corporation (NYSE:DDD) for 308,012 shares.

Earlier this month, Rosenstein told The Associated Press that "if anything that I did winds up being relevant to his investigation then, as Director Mueller and I discussed, if there's a need from me to recuse, I will". Still, the snowballing investigation has deeply angered Trump, who denies he has any nefarious ties to Russian Federation.

The Daily Beast filed a Freedom of Information Act request after it was revealed that Comey had drafted memos detailing each of his nine conversations with President Trump.

Trump's personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, also has retained an attorney to represent him.

Trump allies have been questioning whether Mueller can lead an unbiased probe, given that some members of his team have made campaign contributions to Democratic candidates.
