White House says Trump won't fire Mueller

Irune Rengel | 14 Junio, 2017, 13:34

The New York Times reported Tuesday that Trump was angered by reports that Mueller was close to fired FBI Director James Comey and entertained the idea of firing the special counsel.

White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Tuesday that the president "has no intention" to dismiss Mueller.

He told PBS's "NewsHour" on Monday that Trump was "considering, perhaps, terminating the special counsel". That was enough to send them into a full blown panic.

Senior White House aides later pushed back on that claim.

The public testimony Tuesday before the Senate Intelligence committee should yield Sessions' most extensive comments to date on questions that have dogged his tenure as attorney general and that led him three months ago to recuse himself from the Russian Federation probe. "You're impeding this investigation", Heinrich said. "I think it's an accurate statement". "No", Ruddy told her. Still, he added, "I can't imagine that that issue is going to arise". I don't believe he will fire him. After all, no action has been taken on his role in firing Comey and it would limit the scale of any "massacre". I do believe he has the legal right to do it.

"If there were good cause", I would consider it", Rosenstein testified.

Team Korea answered with a goal from Ki Sung-yueng in the 62nd-minute, and Hwang Hee-chan leveled the score eight minutes later. Tuesday's result could also set up a thrilling finale in the group as Uli Stielike's team play Uzbekistan in the last match.

Ruddy told CNN on Tuesday that Mueller and Trump "had a private conversation" and suggested it was "unethical" before the former Federal Bureau of Investigation director was named special counsel.

In the same interview, Ruddy said that the president was considering terminating Mueller as special counsel. The president sacked Comey in early May.

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein testified before a Senate Appropriations subcommittee Tuesday morning.

It's also true that, to date, there's still no evidence of any collusion at all between the Trump campaign and Russian meddling in the 2016 election, so some question the need for a special counsel. Will they stay or not? Since Sessions recused himself and Rosenstein actually appointed Mueller, it's likely Rosenstein actually has to do the firing. We get the latest from NBC News White House Correspondent Kristen Welker.

Mueller was appointed by the Justice Department to helm the investigation after Trump abruptly fired Comey - who was the one previously leading the Russian Federation probe - in early May. Mr. Trump ignoring shouted questions today. "Mr Ruddy never spoke to the president regarding this issue", Spicer said. Ruddy acknowledging that, but doubling down.

"And the reason for that is, that if it is within the scope of Director Mueller's investigation - and I've been a prosecutor for 27 years - we don't want people talking publicly about the subjects of ongoing investigation", he continued.
