President Trump Accuses Fired FBI Director James Comey Of Lying Under Oath

Galeno Paniagua | 14 Junio, 2017, 10:59

Trump wrote earlier on Friday on Twitter that the former FBI director had vindicated him by telling the Senate Intelligence Committee that the president had not been personally under investigation in the Russian Federation probe.

The White House has since refused to say whether the tapes exist, but a Freedom of Information Act request filed by the Wall Street Journal revealed the Secret Service does not have any such tapes.

Mr Trump denied having asked for Mr Comey's loyalty or for an inquiry into his former national security adviser to be dropped.

"I believe the James Comey leaks will be far more prevalent than anyone ever thought possible, " said Trump's tweet.

When asked why Comey's testimony vindicated the president when it was his words versus Comey's, Trump said, "No collusion, no obstruction".

Former FBI Director James Comey went to Capitol Hill Thursday with an explosive tale of political impropriety: How President Donald Trump tried to influence the FBI's Russian Federation investigation by putting pressure on Comey to back off from aspects of the case.

Trump used Friday's news conference with the president of Romania in the White House Rose Garden - to refute Comey's allegations - point by point.

Trump insisted on June 9 that he is being truthful and he is "100 percent" willing to testify under oath.

While Comey said Trump had lied about him, Trump didn't use that exact terminology in return on Friday.

"I knew there might come a day when I needed a record of what happened", he said, adding he never felt the need to document his meetings with former Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush.

"Who would do that?"

May fighting to hang on after gamble fails
The SNP remains frustrated by May's earlier announcement not to grant Scotland another independence referendum anytime soon. Neither the Conservatives, nor Labour , have the strength to take the lead in this process by themselves.

"I think he's proven himself to be a liar in all of this".

Within hours, the bipartisan leadership of the House Intelligence wrote the White House asking for production of tapes with conversations between Trump and Comey.

Richman, described in the Times as one of Comey's unnamed "associates", read part of Comey's memo to the paper, including the alleged Trump quote to Comey that went, "I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go".

Trump stayed away from Twitter during and after Comey's testimony Thursday, refraining from what many expected would be a fiery response on social media.

The question immediately arises that if Comey leaked this valuable information to the Times, how many other times did he leak anti-Trump information, or damaging information about others, to the media before?
