Donald Trump Finally Breaks His Silence On James Comey's Testimony

Galeno Paniagua | 14 Junio, 2017, 10:52

Rachel Maddow reviews the latest developments in the Trump-Russia investigations, including indications that the Senate Judiciary Committee will issue subpoenas to investigate Donald Trump for obstruction of justice. "And of course, he said he would testify, so I am inviting him to come testify, and we could work that out", the New York Democrat said, noting that Trump appears to be taking the Russian Federation investigation as lightly as his refusal to release his tax returns. "Yesterday showed no collusion, no obstruction", Mr Trump said.

Legal experts have questioned Kasowitz's contention that Trump's private encounters with Comey should be considered privileged communications. But on Friday morning, several unconfirmed reports suggested Kasowitz would file a formal complaint over Comey's testimony with the Justice Department.

"I would be glad to tell him exactly what I just told you", Trump said.

Trump's aides have dodged questions about whether conversations relevant to the Russian Federation investigation have been recorded, and so did the president, in a series of teases.

The Republican president took to twitter earlier in the day, claiming "total and complete vindication".

Jeff Sessions raises his voice at Senator Wyden during hearing
But many Democrats have accused Sessions of misleading the Senate Judiciary Committee during his January confirmation hearing. Richard Burr (R-NC). "I know nothing but what I've read in the paper", he said. "Yes sir, I agree", Warner replied.

While disputing Comey's testimony, Trump castigated the entire hearing as "just an excuse" for Democrats to blame their election loss on a false narrative about Russian Federation.

Meanwhile, Collins said she found Comey's testimony candid and thorough, and she does believe that he believes the information that was given was what happened.

"And there would be nothing wrong if I did say it according to everybody that I read today, but I did not say that".

Trump flatly denied Comey's testimony that the president asked him to let go of an investigation into Flynn - "I didn't say that" - and denied the former director's claim that Trump asked him for a pledge of personal loyalty. The president also asserted that "some of the things" Comey told the Senate Intelligence Committee on Thursday "weren't true", but called on another reporter without elaborating.

And Comey admitted that he asked a friend to leak those notes to a reporter, correctly betting that the details would prompt the appointment of a special prosecutor.

Trump has 'no intention' of firing special counsel Mueller -White House
Trump can not directly dismiss Mueller. "As long as I'm in this position, he's not going to be fired without cause", he added . Spicer had said that Ruddy was at the White House Monday to meet with White House aides, but did not speak with the president.

Trump demurred when asked whether tapes of his talks with Comey actually exist.

"I hardly know the man", Trump said.

Comey said a decision was made not report to Sessions a February 14 White House meeting where Trump pressed the director to drop the FBI's inquiry into Flynn, whom Trump fired for withholding information about his contacts with foreign governments.

The leaders of the House of Representatives intelligence committee said they have written to Comey, and also Don McGahn, the White House counsel, and asked him whether White House recordings or memos of Comey's conversations with Trump exist.
