The attorney general has acknowledged two meetings a year ago with Russia's ambassador to the U.S., Sergey Kislyak.

Heinrich likened Sessions to Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats and NSA direct Mike Rogers, who declined to talk about their conversations with Trump last week.

Attorney General Jeff Session, right, and Vice President Mike Pence attend a Cabinet meeting with President Donald Trump, Monday, June 12, 2017, in the Cabinet Room of the White House in Washington.

"Let me state this clearly: I have never met with or had any conversations with Russians or any foreign officials concerning any ... interference with any campaign or election", Sessions, a former US senator from Alabama, said in his opening statement to the Senate committee.

"I have no knowledge of any such conversations by anyone connected to the Trump campaign", he added.

Sessions, a close Trump adviser during the battle for the presidency, said in his opening statement that it was a "detestable and appalling lie" to suggest he was aware of or participated in any collusion between Russian Federation and the Trump campaign.

Baldridge of the Army's 101st Airborne Division were killed during the attack in the eastern Afghan province of Nangarhar. On Monday night, Mattis told the House Armed Services Committee he would have an Afghanistan strategy "very soon".

Comey said he believed that Trump abruptly fired him last month because of the FBI's investigation into whether any Trump associates colluded with Russian Federation to influence the 2016 election.

During an interview with NBC News, President Trump said he fired former FBI director James Comey because of his handling of the Russian Federation investigation. "I just don't have a real recall of the meeting. I'm not sure what was in his mind specifically".

Comey said Trump told Sessions and other administration officials to leave the room before Trump asked him in February to drop a probe into former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn's contacts with Russian Federation.

Rumors have recently circulated that the president may seek to sack Robert Mueller, the special counsel appointed to head the high-stakes Russian Federation investigation following Comey's ouster.

"I do want you to be honest", Harris said.

Congressional GOP leaders, including House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., both expressed faith in Mueller on Tuesday. Comey said the president then leaned on him to halt an investigation into one of his top aides, former national security advisor Michael Flynn.

LeBron James will not play 3-on-3 basketball in Olympics
That, of course, could change in the coming years leading up to the Tokyo Games. And James wasn't the only member of his family who felt this way.

Those calls have escalated since fired FBI Director James Comey cryptically told lawmakers on Thursday that the bureau had expected Sessions to recuse himself weeks before he did from an investigation into contacts between Trump campaign associates and Russian Federation during the 2016 presidential election. "And I'm trying to give my best recusal answer in committees I've appeared before, and really people are suggesting through innuendo that I have not been honest about matters, and I'm trying to be honest".

"A part of me does think that Jeff Sessions uses that line all the time though". During Comey's appearance before the committee last week, Sen.

In yet another high-profile Senate Intelligence Committee hearing that received gavel-to-gavel coverage from news networks, one of New Mexico's U.S senators played a featured role. "You don't walk into any committee meeting and reveal confidential communications with president of United States".

You say, "This is classified, can't answer it here". Bucket number three is to say, "I'm invoking executive privilege".

"I told the AG that what had just happened - him being asked to leave while the Federal Bureau of Investigation director, who reports to the AG, remained behind - was inappropriate and should never happen", Comey told the committee. He answered numerous questions with claims that he couldn't "recall" the answer or "couldn't remember". "You are impeding this investigation".

"Mr. Comey said that your continued engagement with the Russian Federation investigation was, quote, 'problematic, ' and he could not discuss it in public", Wyden noted.

Comey says Trump's lying, Trump says Comey's lying
I'll go out on a limb and say it's highly unlikely Mueller saw the Comey hearing as exonerating Trump of obstruction of justice. After dodging the question the first time , Trump was pressed again, saying he wasn't hinting at the presence of recordings.
