Shadow Brokers Planning To Cause Extra Damage With More Zero-Day Bugs

Shadow Brokers teases more Windows exploits and cyberespionage data Hacking group offers subscription for NSA code

The hacking group that helped enable last week's global ransomware attack is threatening to make public even more computer vulnerabilities in the coming weeks - including "compromised network data" pertaining to the nuclear missile programmes of China, Iran, Russia and North Korea, as well as secret exploits affecting Windows 10, which is run by millions of computers around the world. It also claims to have exploits for web browsers, routers, smartphones, data from the worldwide money transfer network SWIFT and "compromised network data from Russian, Chinese, Iranian, or North Korean nukes and missile programs".

The hacking group that says it facilitated the WannaCry ransomware attack has threatened to leak a new wave of hacking tools it claims to have stolen from the National Security Agency.

It has not responded to repeated requests for comment about the ransomware attack.

In the post, which will worry security agencies and companies around the world, the Shadow Brokers said: "In June, TheShadowBrokers is announcing "TheShadowBrokers Data Dump of the Month" service". The gang says that potential buyers would have to pay the subscription fee the data is locked behind but, other than that, practically everyone could buy it and used it for whatever purposes, terrorist organizations included.

National security journalist Marcy Wheeler has suggested that Shadow Brokers' recent claims of a new Windows 10 exploit might be a deliberate attempt to inflame tensions between Microsoft and the USA government.

The hacking group said it would release tools to subscribers each month or would "go dark permanently" if the "responsible party" bought all the tools for a lump sum, suggesting that the Shadow Brokers could be willing to hand over stolen hacking tools to the NSA for a price.

No one appears to have paid the Shadow Brokers for access to the Equation arsenal in the past, at least as far as it's publicly known.

It said it was set to sell access to previously undisclosed vulnerabilities, known as zero-days, that could be used to attack Microsoft Corp's latest software system, Windows 10.

"ShadowBrokers are back" tweeted Matthieu Suiche, a French hacker and security researcher who has tracked the group.
