Vancouver police will walk in Vancouver's Pride Parade this summer after reaching an agreement with the Vancouver Pride Society, the police announced Thursday.
In addition, there will be no marked police vehicles in the parade.
The Vancouver chapter of Black Lives Matter has not yet commented, but they had been asking for police to voluntarily withdraw their participation in the parade.
The VPD members will march in the parade as part of the City of Vancouver entry, which also includes staff and officials from the city, Vancouver Public Library, Vancouver park board, firefighters and first responders.
The VPD have also agreed to participate in Pride society-facilitated "listening circles", both before the parade and year-round, where community members can share their stories with police in an accessible and supportive environment.

One in five officers will wear their uniforms, including those "who are visible in the community", according to the VPD.
Following their Toronto counterparts, a year ago the group Black Lives Matter Vancouver called for police to be removed from the Pride Parade.
This petition comes after members of the Black Lives Matter Vancouver chapter pushed past year for the VPD to voluntarily withdraw all uniformed officers from the parade.
