President Trump is planning to reduce Sean Spicer's role as press secretary, and may reduce him right out of a job, multiple sources told "The New York Times" and "Politico" on Thursday.

She was originally considered for press secretary during the presidential transition, but the job went to Mr Spicer, who was spokesman for the Republican National Committee.

A separate administration official said nothing within the realm of what is being reported has been discussed with communications staffers. They say Trump has come to "dread" Spicer's daily press briefings, which often get combative, and has told aides he no longer wants Spicer to be the one "publicly defending and explaining" his message, as Politico notes.

Eleven people were injured, including one police officer, in what law enforcement called a "brutal attack". Witnesses described what happened at the scene.

"I was really stunned as the picture of the preparation and the installation in the bushes kinda took off", she said. "On a professional level it's disappointing because I think I've let the president down, and so on both a personal level and professional level, that would definitely go down as not a very good day in my history", Spicer said in a statement at the Newseum.

During the Trump administration, the daily press briefings have become a fixture for the media. Her name was floated by The New York Times as a person President Donald Trump suggested he'd be interested in hiring. He did not mention Mr. Trump's disclosure of intelligence to Russian leaders, but referred to the government officials who acted as sources for The Washington Post's scoop. She gave two of the most important briefings of the months-old Trump administration, addressing reporters when FBI Director James Comey was sacked on May 9.

Officials said Spicer is expected to stay in the White House "but have less exposure", in the words of one official.

He also said the case was politically motivated, as it followed massive Wikileaks dumps of secret U.S. military reports that year. Julian Assange's lawyer is asking French president Emmanuel Macron to intervene in support of the WikiLeaks founder.

After the NY Times reported Donald Trump was talking up the FOX News host, she gave an interview about the whole notion that frankly read like a job interview. The Washington Post's Callum Borchers described Guilfoyle's Mercury News interview by saying she's "openly gunning for Sean Spicer's job".

"I've never been someone who's motivated by financial interests", she said. He was pulled from the podium after 138 days to make way for Clinton's first actual press secretary, Dee Dee Myers.

For White House correspondents and reporters seeking answers on developments concerning his administration, Trump on Saturday offered this solution: "We do it through a piece of paper with a perfectly accurate, lovely answer".

Those briefings could soon be a thing of the past, however, according to a number of recent reports by White House watchers.
