Speaking before a Senate Judiciary subcommittee, former DNI Jeff Clapper called for retaliation against Russian Federation for its efforts to tilt the 2016 USA presidential election in favor of Donald Trump.

Yes, Russian attempts to interfere with our elections are a worrisome threat. Patrick Leahy (D-VT) asked Clapper during a highly-anticipated Senate Judiciary subcommittee hearing.

Clapper said at the hearing that there is "no evidence" of collusion between Trump's presidential campaign and Russian Federation, which Trump called "old news" in another tweet. He also pointed out that the Russian hacking campaign during the 2016 presidential election had been low-cost, easy and most importantly, successful. "They're going to continue to do it, and why not?"

He quipped, "Russia did, without doubt and with little effect, deploy resources and tactics to disrupt America's presidential election - to undermine Hillary Clinton, and to help Trump's campaign".

Clapper's prediction echoes FBI Director James Comey's warning from last Wednesday's Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, where he also said that Russian Federation will continue to hack future elections.

"President Obama's former director of national intelligence and his former acting CIA director have both said they have seen no evidence of collusion", the official said.

Clapper did say that the Russians have been trying to interfere with United States elections since the '60s and now "must be congratulating themselves for having exceeded their wildest expectations".

He said, "We couldn't corroborate the sourcing".
