Last week, amid tensions with North Korea and the possibility that the North might conduct a nuclear or missile test, USA officials, including the president, had suggested that the U.S.S. Carl Vinson was headed north, toward the Korean peninsula.

But White House officials on Tuesday said the USS Carl Vinson and its three support ships were sailing in the opposite direction to train with the Australian navy about 3,500 miles southwest of the Korean Peninsula.

This contradicts earlier announcements by USA authorities that the supercarrier strike group was heading towards the Korean Peninsula amid possibilities of North Korean provocations. A few days later, President Donald Trump said they were sending a very powerful navy to the area, in response to what his government considers a nuclear threat by North Korea. "That's a fact, it happened", Spicer said.

A senior administration official blamed a miscommunication between the Pentagon and the White House over reports that the aircraft carrier has not made its way to the Sea of Japan, also known as the East Sea, as an expected show of force to North Korea.

Defense Secretary James Mattis on Wednesday blamed confusion over a US aircraft carrier and its strike group that officials suggested had been sent to the Korean Peninsula on an effort to be transparent.

Bill O'Reilly to receive maximum of one year salary
O'Reilly agreed he wouldn't return to the cable news network "after a thorough and careful review of the allegations". The O'Reilly Factor brought in US$147.13 million in advertising revenue previous year .

That must have kept the loony North Koreans off balance.

While North Korea did end up test-firing a missile on Sunday, the projectile exploded nearly immediately after launch.

The statement raised tensions on the peninsula and a North Korea diplomat to the United Nations said the United States was risking nuclear war. Like Spicer, he said it will wind up near the Korean Peninsula to reassure US allies.

"We're doing exactly what we said we were going to do", Mattis said.

But the Navy, for security reasons, explained that it does not report future operational locations of its ships.

US 'armada' headed away from N Korea
White House officials said a sequence of communication miscues with the Defense Department were to blame for the mix-up. The aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson and its strike group actually sailed south after U.S.

US Defense Secretary James Mattis attempted to address the confusion on Wednesday, arguing that the change of course was disclosed in the interest of transparency.

"The president said that we have an armada going towards the peninsula".

But this doesn't matter to Sean Spicer, who apparently doesn't believe that the administration's initial statements about the aircraft carrier were at all inaccurate.

Earlier Wednesday, Trump signed into law the Veterans Choice Program Improvement Act, which expands health care access and allows veterans to stay with their doctor.

The Trump White House either lied about the aircraft carrier, or were lied to, and didn't care enough to check on the truth.

Personally, I would have like to have seen him given the opportunity to establish himself in the Hammers first team this season. It's not only the defenders though.
