SC questions Centre for making Aadhaar mandatory for PAN cards

Last month, the SC said that the government could make Aadhaar mandatory for getting passports, opening bank accounts or getting mobile connections.
A bench of Justice AK Sikri and Justice Ashok Bhushan said that the court will examine the constitutional validity of the central government's decision to link the Aadhaar card with the PAN card. "To receive benefits due to citizens, aadhaar card won't be mandatory".
The Supreme Court on Friday questioned the government on its move to make the Aadhaar Card mandatory for several government-funded schemes and other services.
