Japón y EU inician diálogo para nuevo acuerdo comercial

La declaración se produjo luego de que el vicepresidente estadounidense, Mike Pence, advirtiera a Pyongyang sobre no poner a prueba la "determinación" de Washington.

Tokio es la segunda escala en la gira de 10 días de Pence por Asia, un viaje que busca subrayar que el presidente de Estados Unidos, Donald Trump, desea impulsar el comercio estadounidense en la región aunque haya abandonado el Acuerdo Trans-Pacífico de Asociación Económica (TPP).

"Hoy empezamos un proceso de diálogo económico, el cual podría derivar en negociaciones para un acuerdo bilateral de comercio en el futuro", dijo Pence tras la reunión que mantuvo en el Kantei, la residencia oficial del ministro nipón, con su homólogo y titular de Finanzas japonés, Taro Aso.

Mientras, desde Pekín, el ministro chino de Asuntos Exteriores, Wang Yi, consideró en esta misma jornada que el uso de medios pacíficos "sigue siendo la primera opción" de los países implicados en la crisis por los programas armamentísticos de Corea del Norte. "Pero todos sabemos que la paz llega a través de la fuerza", destacó el vicepresidente estadounidense, quien también hizo hincapié la "solidez inquebrantable" de la alianza bilateral en materia de seguridad.
