Wall Street 'Charging Bull' sculptor calls for 'Fearless Girl' to be removed

She was also enough of a hit with New Yorkers and tourists that city officials granted a permit that will keep her there until at least February 2018. At a press conference this morning, Di Modica and his lawyers said they hope to amicably solve their issues with the city before filing a lawsuit. Yesterday, in response to Di Modica's call for the work's relocation, de Blasio tweeted: "Men who don't like women taking up space are exactly why we need the Fearless Girl".

On the eve of International Women's Day, Kristen Visbal's sculpture was placed on a traffic island near Wall Street to make a point, which is that there's a shortage of women on the boards of the largest US corporations.

Interestingly, the bull itself was also placed on Wall Street in 1987 in the middle of the night without a permit, after that year's stock market crash.

Grave concerns were held for the crocs, reportedly named Snap and Crackle, in the chilly Sydney conditions. Speaking to ABC Radio Mr Hughes said he took some inspiration from Steve Irwin during the rescue.

Authorities initially removed the unauthorized work but later reinstalled it following public clamor for it to remain in the financial district. Mayor Bill de Blasio extended its permit for nearly one year as a response to widespread requests to make it a permanent fixture. He proposes that the city move "Fearless Girl" to another location, and reimburse him for infringement damages. An inscription at the base reads, "Know the power of women in leadership". Artist Arturo Di Modica, however, is apparently not a fan.

The statue was originally placed as a publicity ploy in honor of International Women's Day on behalf of McCann and State Street Global Advisers. Over 36,000 people have signed an online petition calling on de Blasio to make the statue a permanent feature on Wall Street.

The Washington Post reported that Di Modica "doled out sharp criticism" of the statue and said it was not art but a "publicity stunt".

Dortmund police clear 'suspicious objects' after Champions League game
Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke stated the club would not bow to terrorism, but it doesn't seem to be a sentiment Tuchel shares. But European football's governing body rejected the claim, insisting that both clubs had agreed to play on Wednesday.

It's a battle of two sculptures, and two ideals: "Charging Bull", a 7,100-pound symbol of brash financial optimism, and "Fearless Girl", a four-foot emblem of female empowerment. Where others see an inspiring note for women and girls, Arturo Di Modica sees "an advertising trick" that is violating his legal rights. "None of us here are in any way not proponents of gender equality", they said before demanded the statue of the little girl be moved elsewhere.

Now, though, Di Modica apparently thinks that his once-rogue art has more rights than a new piece which was actually given a permit by the mayor himself.
