Hacked files suggest NSA monitored Middle East banks

"Today, Microsoft triaged a large release of exploits made publicly available by ShadowBrokers".

"This is by far the most brutal dump", said Comae Technologies founder Matt Suiche, who has closely followed the group's disclosures and initially helped confirm its connection to the NSA previous year.

"There is no impact on SWIFT's infrastructure or data, however we understand that communications between these service bureaus and their customers may previously have been accessed by unauthorised third parties".

"Based on the information contained in the data dump, the NSA has been able to compromise SWIFT banking systems, presumably as a way to monitor, if not disrupt, financial transactions to terrorists groups".

SWIFT said in a statement that the allegations involve only its service bureaus and not its own network.

Scandal-struck Haiti UN peacekeeping mission to end
The UN Security council unanimously agreed to end the peacekeeping mission to Haiti Thursday. According to Associated Press , more than 300 of the allegations involved children.

SWIFT said that it has no evidence that its primary network has been accessed without authorisation.

Meanwhile, in its data dump, the Shadow Brokers also published another set of documents that indicate the NSA penetrated the SWIFT banking network in the Middle East. In a blog post, he said it appeared that thousands of employee accounts and machines from the EastNets' offices had been compromised and that financial institutions in Kuwait, Bahrain and the Palestinian territories had been targeted for espionage.

However, the BBC reported on Friday that EastNets denied claims its service had been compromised.

EastNets ran a "complete check of its servers and found no hacker compromise or any vulnerabilities", according to a statement from EastNets' chief executive and founder, Hazem Mulhim.

If genuine, it represents perhaps the most significant exposure of NSA files since the Edward Snowden leaks in 2013. The tools are alleged to have come from the U.S. National Security Agency.

Republican Ron Estes wins tight special election for US House seat
The other two districts look safely Republican. "Anti-abortion folks are the most reliable source of support in that district". Those efforts ended up being a big help to rally Republicans in a special election that normally doesn't attract many voters.

Reuters could not confirm whether the documents released Friday by the Shadow Brokers, if authentic, were related to NSA monitoring of SWIFT transfers since 2013.

The GitHub post of the tools by The Shadow Brokers contains three folders, marked "oddjob", "swift" and "windows", which can be unlocked by a password that was released by the group. WikiLeaks also released more so-called CIA "Vault 7" attack tools earlier this month that are created to target Windows systems.

According to Motherboard, the most risky program in the release is an NSA program known as FUZZBUNCH, "a hacking suite or toolkit that contains several plug-and-play exploits to attack several versions of Windows operating system".

Beaumont said there was bad news in the release for Microsoft as well. A little while ago, Sam Biddle, a reporter for the Intercept, tweeted, "Wow: Microsoft just told me NO ONE from NSA (or anywhere in the government) has contacted them yet re: Shadow Brokers".
